Top 5 Friday: Kid's Shows as a kid

Being a 90’s kid my favorite TV shows weren’t everyone’s cup of tea, but because COVID has me wanting to turn back time and fulfill my nostalgia moments, I’ve been watching shows on PlutoTV (a free streaming app) with some of my favorite shows growing up. That’s where I lead you all on my favorite 5 Friday leads me.

5. Heathcliff—Unlike a lot of children my favorite cartoon cat was not Garfield or Hello Kitty, it was Heathcliff, he was more rebellious than Garfield and was my favorite orange cat. I enjoyed every bit of the show, and remember the theme song when I think about the show.

4. Ghost Busters—Ghost Busters was one of those shows that take me way back. I enjoyed everything about the show from Slimer to the Ghost Busters going out and trapping the ghost. I even had the Nintendo Game as a child, I never really learned how to play it, but it was still fun.

3. Zoom—For awhile as a child and young teen we didn’t have cable, and PBS became my favorite TV channel. One show that I loved hands down was Zoom. I had the address memorized and wanted so much to send stuff to the show. I also had a crush on the late Jared Nathan from Zoom, my heart broke in 1,000 pieces when I learned that he passed on.

2. Are you Afraid of the Dark—Even as an adult I had the theme song as my ringtone, because it felt so right and it reminded me of my childhood. Side note: There’s an Are You Afraid of the Dark Giveaway here if you want to take a walk down memory lane.

1. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles—Now as an adult, I can’t understand how April didn’t get sick by crawling in the sewers with turtles and eating pizza that’s been in a sewer. It doesn’t mean it’s still not one of my favorite TV shows, even as an adult PlutoTV’s all TMNT channel is awesome. I can sit in front of the TV or my computer and enjoy a gluten-free pizza and imagine being friends with turtles!
